Poppies

The painting draws the viewer’s gaze to the bright appearance of the poppies and, at the same time, to their fragility. The open flowers appear light and delicate, as if they were only visible in their full beauty for a brief moment – a reference to the transience and precious fleetingness of natural beauty.
At the same time, the poppies radiate a strong vitality with their intense colours. Between delicacy and luminosity, a tension arises between fragility and energy. Ingrid loved flowers – especially the poppies in our front garden.
