Guardian Angel

Light flows through the picture in a gentle diagonal – from light ochre in the upper left corner to an almost white glow in the centre to warm, rich ochre in the lower right corner. It is a light that not only illuminates the space, but also carries meaning.
A stylised angel appears in the centre. The head and wings are deliberately small, almost understated. The long, flowing body, on the other hand, unfolds in a flowing robe that extends far into the pictorial space. The figure seems to be moving towards the light – or emerging from it.
Created in the run-up to a birth, “Guardian Angel” seems like a symbol of protection, hope and expectation. The angel is not monumental, but quiet and accompanying. The light becomes a sign of new beginnings, trust and the invisible force that surrounds a new life.
