Arctic Ocean

With this painting, Ingrid sought to capture the quiet vastness and, at the same time, the hidden tension of a frozen world. The icebergs dominate; between them, ice floes drift. Above, the sky is rendered in a dark blue. It stands for depth and infinity, but also for cold and stillness.
In the midst of this seemingly overpowering landscape, a small cutter makes its way through. It is deliberately delicate and almost lost among the icebergs, and yet it radiates resolve. It carves a path through the ice—cautious, but unwavering.
The light of the low sun bathes the icebergs and the cutter in warm, welcoming tones—gold, apricot, and warm beige. This warmth contrasts with the icy surroundings. It symbolises hope, humanity, and endurance, even in harsh conditions.
“Arctic Sea” is therefore not only a landscape, but also an image of contrasts: cold and warmth, grandeur and fragility, stillness and movement.
