Beneath the Surface
With this image, Ingrid wanted to capture a state that cannot be clearly grasped. The strong colours represent the immediate – emotion, impulse, perhaps even restlessness.
The white above is not a correction. It is a layer of distance, of taking a breath. It does not completely cover, but allows what lives on beneath to shine through.
It shows the moment when something is both hidden and visible – like feelings that we smooth over on the outside, but which continue to have an effect beneath the surface.
